The Cricket in Times Square by George Selden is a Newbery Honor-book about a tiny cricket’s adventure in the Big Apple and features illustrations by Garth Williams. Our Student Guide and Teacher Guide increase the understanding of the text and help students develop reading comprehension skills. This book is included in our Fourth Grade Curriculum Package.
The Student Guide trains students to become active readers by providing in-depth word studies that help students build vocabulary. Comprehension questions to teach students to identify important concepts and compose clear, concise answers to questions. The Teacher Guide contains all answers to the Student Guide, as well as teaching guidelines and quizzes & tests.
Literature guides train students to become active readers. Our guides focus on vocabulary, spelling, comprehension, and composition skills. Each lesson includes a word study to help students build vocabulary. The comprehension questions challenge students to consider what they have read, identify the important content of each story, and compose clear, concise answers (a difficult skill at any age). Writing is thinking, and good questioning stimulates the child to think and write.
