GCSEs and A-Levels
There are advantages and disadvantages to the GCSEs and A-Levels, as there are for most standardised tests. Some home-educating families in the United Kingdom prepare their pupils for these exams. Some prefer other qualifications recognised by UK universities, such as the general SAT and subject-specific AP exams. Anecdotal evidence suggests that British pupils sitting these alternative exams are not disadvantaged in admissions, but this may vary from university to university.
For many schools and families, however, GCSEs and A-Levels will be targets on the educational horizon. The team at Memoria Press, in cooperation with teachers and parents in the United Kingdom, are currently undertaking a thorough comparison of the Memoria curriculum with a selection of those GCSEs and A-Levels that pupils are likely to sit. Recommendations for each subject will be posted here when they are complete.
